A propos

Ph2 est un duo de Rock progressif. Nous avons été bercés par la musique de Genesis, de Yes, de Van der Graff Generator, de Kansas, de Mike Oldfield, de Peter Gabriel... avant de nous nourrir de Prokofiev, Shostakovitch, Stravinsky... puis de découvrir Flower Kings, Kaïpa, Ritual. De tout cela nous avons acquis l'exigence de ne pas céder aux modes et à la facilité, de tenter de combiner authenticité, émotion et originalité. La musique de Ph2 n'est pas toujours évidente à la première écoute. Etant dire que son potentiel commercial est des plus limité. Mais nous cherchons avant tout à nous faire plaisir et nous avons la naïvité de penser que si le résultat nous plaît, il devrait être en mesure de plaire à quelques autres allumés comme nous ! Alors, pour aller à leur rencontre, nous mettons en ligne notre musique. Et bien évidemment, nous sommes avides de commentaires (même si c'est pour nous dire que c'est nul !). We are a duo, playing progressive rock. Philippe Moati has composed most of the tracks and plays the guitar, the bass and the keyboard. Philippe Mercier plays the drums and other percussion instruments. Some tracks include guest performances by various other artists. At the beginning, we were influenced by the music of Genesis, Yes, Van der Graff Generator, Kansas, Mike Oldfield, Peter Gabriel and son on before discovering Prokofiev, Shostakovitch and Stravinsky, and more recently Flower Kings, Kaïpa and Ritual. From all of this music we acquired the willingness to be demanding, to combine authenticity, emotion and originality. The Ph2’s music is not what you would call easy listening. As a result, perhaps it’s not to meant for mass consumption! First and foremost, we try to have pleasure and we are naïve enough to think that if we enjoy the result, others like us might enjoy it too. So, to meet you, we share our music on line. Of course, we are eager to know how you feel it. So let your comments, even if it is to say it is a mess!

"Ô toi ma sœur", the first single from the forthcoming album, Season 5, is released!

 
"Ô toi ma sœur" ("O You My Sister") deals with the miserable fate of people forced to leave their country to try to find asylum in a place where they hope to be safe and live a happy life. These words were inspired to Philippe Mercier by the unbearable images seen on television or on the Internet, by the number of deaths announced coldly by the media, which are as many people whose lives have been shattered, by the sight of these people stranded in camps or on the sidewalks of our cities. But this text was also inspired by our collective indifference to the fate of these people. The emotion aroused by the images is ephemeral. We prefer not to see and we continue to live in indifference.
 
Philippe Moati's music is however cheerful. The structure of the song is built around a simple rhythmic base played on a 12-string guitar. The orchestration becomes richer as the song progresses, taking on a world music coloring, with sounds of bagpipes and drums.
 
Clara Moati, 18 years old, sings here on her first single. She puts a lot of emotion in it. Her final flight in head voice gives you goose bumps every time you listen to it...
