"Ô toi ma sœur" ("O You My Sister") deals with the miserable fate of people forced to leave their country to try to find asylum in a place where they hope to be safe and live a happy life. These words were inspired to Philippe Mercier by the unbearable images seen on television or on the Internet, by the number of deaths announced coldly by the media, which are as many people whose lives have been shattered, by the sight of these people stranded in camps or on the sidewalks of our cities. But this text was also inspired by our collective indifference to the fate of these people. The emotion aroused by the images is ephemeral. We prefer not to see and we continue to live in indifference.

 

Philippe Moati's music is however cheerful. The structure of the song is built around a simple rhythmic base played on a 12-string guitar. The orchestration becomes richer as the song progresses, taking on a world music coloring, with sounds of bagpipes and drums.

 

Clara Moati, 18 years old, sings here on her first single. She puts a lot of emotion in it. Her final flight in head voice gives you goose bumps every time you listen to it...

EXCLU : Un apperçu du prochain album

Certes, le prochain album n'est pas pour tout de suite...

Déjà 4 morceaux dans la boîte... mais qui restent à fignoler.

Mais nous ne pouvons pas résister au plaisir de vous faire partager notre dernier opus : "Bon anniversaire".

Attention, c'est du lourd. Du genre inclassable...

A la première écoute, vous serez certainement déconcerté(e). Mais, si vous avez le courage de persévérer, vous devriez y trouver un certain charme, et en tous cas, plein de choses à découvrir.

Nous avons joué sur l'économie de moyens. 5 instruments, les mêmes du début jusqu'à la fin : piano, piano électrique, guitare électrique claire, saxo et percu.

Le morceau a été composé sur le principe de l'écrite automatique : une base improvisée au piano, puis retravaillée et orchestrée. Ce qui fait que vous ne trouverez pas l'enchaînement classique, couplet, refrain... (ce que l'on trouve rarement de toute façon dans la musique de Ph2).

Le jeu : découvrir pourquoi le morceau est intitulé "Bon anniversaire". Si vous trouvez les 3 citations (le final ne compte pas), vous gagnez... notre estime !

Exclu : an overview of the Ph2’s next album.

The next album is not exactly for tomorrow yet. 4 tracks are already in the box (or near to be). But we can’t resist to the pleasure to share our last opus: “Happy Birthday”.

Be careful: it’s a heavy one. The kind of music hard to classify…

At the first listening, you should be disturbed. But, if you are courageous enough to listen to it again, you should find some charm and, anyway, a lot of things to discover.

We wanted to make it with an economy of means. Only 5 instruments, the same from the beginning to the end: piano, electric piano, clear electric guitar, saxo and percussion.

This piece was composed upon the principle of automatic writing; an improved basis played on the piano, later reworked and orchestrated. So, you won’t find the classical sequence verse, chorus… (anyway seldom used in the Ph2’s music).

The game: to find out why it is called “Happy Birthday”. If you succeed in identifying the 3 citations (excepted the final one, too easy…), you win… our esteem!
